BRAIN TRAINING FOR COGNITIVE PERFORMANCE

A typical (but by no means universally accepted) way of evaluating intelligence is through IQ tests. Some people argue that IQ is something you’re born with, but there is increasing evidence that it can, in fact, be trained.

An intelligence quotient (IQ) is a total score derived from several tests designed to assess your intelligence.

IQ scores are used for educational placement, assessment of intellectual ability, and evaluating job applicants. Even when students improve their scores on standardized tests, they do not always improve their cognitive abilities, such as memory, attention and speed.

Some small studies of alpha neurofeedback training have reported average gains on IQ testing among participants. That research is early, the samples are small, and it has not been replicated in large controlled trials, so it is better read as encouraging than as settled.

What neurofeedback trains is the regulation underneath a test score: sustained attention, working memory and processing speed. Results differ from person to person, and we do not promise a specific change in your IQ.
